Providing 1-on-1 support

Connect with an Advocate by phone or on the UnitedHealthcare® app to get the information you need, when you need it. Specially trained Advocates are here to help you understand your benefits, make more informed health care decisions and access the care that fits your needs.

Advocate4Me member support

Advocate4Me® should not be used for emergency or urgent care needs. In an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Making meds more affordable

UnitedHealthcare’s Vital Medication Program* offers select prescription drugs at no additional cost. This means there may be no out-of-pocket cost, copay or deductible on select prescription drugs that may be essential to your health, including:

  • Insulin – rapid, short-and long-acting for diabetes
  • Epinephrine – allergic reaction
  • Glucagon – hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)
  • Naloxone – opioid overuse
  • Albuterol inhaler – asthma

Keeping care on track

Preventive care - such as routine annual checkups and certain recommended screenings and immunizations - is covered by most UnitedHealthcare plans for $0 out-of-pocket when you see network providers. A preventive care visit may be a good time to help establish your relationship with your primary care provider. It can also help you manage your health and create a connection for future medical services.

Preventive care

Certain preventive care items and services, including immunizations, are provided as specified by applicable law, including the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), with no cost-sharing to you. These services may be based on your age and other health factors. Other routine services may be covered under your plan, and some plans may require copayments, coinsurance or deductibles for these benefits. Always review your benefit plan documents to determine your specific coverage details.​

Convenient 24/7 Virtual Visits

With 24/7 Virtual Visits, you can connect to a provider by phone or video* – on myuhc.com or the UnitedHealthcare® app. Providers can diagnose and treat a wide range of health conditions, including many of the same conditions as an emergency room (ER) or urgent care. Providers may even prescribe medication**, if needed.

24/7 Virtual Visits is a service available with a Designated Virtual Network Provider via video, or audio-only where permitted under state law. Whether you’re in a time of greater need or want to work on personal growth, you can get connected to self-help digital tools, in-person or virtual behavioral health providers and more.

These resources and programs are designed to help with a variety of concerns from depression and anxiety to mental health and substance disorder services.

Virtual emotional support

Reaching out for help may be easier from the privacy of your home. Using your computer or phone*, access confidential counseling from a licensed therapist for conditions like ADD/ADHD, anxiety, mental health disorders, addiction and depression.

Includes:

  • Private video session
  • Support for adults, children, and teens, including diagnosis, treatment, and medication, if necessary
  • The same standard of care as in-person visits, allowing you to maintain a consistent relationship with your therapist

In the moment support

When it comes to behavioral health, sometimes it just helps to have someone to talk to. With the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), you can reach an EAP coordinator 24/7 online or by phone for confidential conversation and referrals to expert care and services. EAP can help you and your family:

  • Address depression, stress, anxiety or substance use issues​
  • Improve relationships at home or wok​
  • Work through emotional issues or grief​
  • Get legal or financial assistance​
  • Find support for child and elder care services

Get in on UHC Rewards

What’s better than earning rewards for reaching goals? Being able to choose how those rewards are earned. It’s all possible with UnitedHealthcare Rewards, which is included in your health plan.

Some of the ways you can earn dollars include tracking sleep or fitness, completing a health survey or getting an annual checkup.​

Designed to make your fitness journey more engaging, One Pass Select® allows you to find a routine and choose a membership tier to fit your lifestyle. Here's how it works:

  • Access a large gym network, including national fitness centers and boutique studios​
  • Use any location in your network tier at no additional cost​
  • Change tiers monthly to create a routine that fits your lifestyle​
  • Cancel your membership at any time by giving a 30-day notice​
  • Add unlimited family members (age 18+) to an existing account. New members can select any membership tier, and you’ll receive a 10% discount on their membership.​

Help paying for care

Care Cash® is a preloaded debit card to use toward cost sharing for certain network health care expenses, like deductibles and copays. It comes loaded with $200 for individual or $500 for family plans, and it can be used to help pay for:

  • Primary care and premium care specialist visits
  • Urgent care visits
  • Outpatient behavioral health visits

Care cash

Care Cash provides a pre-loaded debit card which can be used for certain health care expenses. Motivation to get moving

The Sweat Equity® program allows you to earn up to $200 every 6 months for meeting program exercise requirements. To get rewarded, complete 50 workouts within a 6-month period and submit a reimbursement form. Qualifying workouts include gym visits, fitness classes and event, and any mix of these options.​

Help for quitting tobacco

With a coach on your side, it may be easier to leave tobacco behind. The Quit For Life® program includes access to a Quit Coach®, a mobile app and more to help you customize a quit plan and go tobacco-free.

The Quit For Life Program provides information regarding tobacco cessation methods and related well-being support. Any health information provided by you is kept confidential in accordance with the law. The Quit For Life Program does not provide clinical treatment or medical services and should not be considered a substitute for your doctor’s care. Virtual access to second opinions​

Whether you re trying to understand a diagnosis, choose between treatment options, or changing a medication, you can get a virtual second opinion through 2nd.MD. Within days by video or phone, you’ll be connected with a doctor who will provide personalized information to help you understand your options.

Having a health plan that supports who you are matters. Some benefits that may be of interest to members and allies of the LGBTQ+ community include:​

The Orthopedic Health Support program does not provide direct health care services or practice medicine. Support with Benefit Ally

With UnitedHealthcare Benefit Ally® included in your medical plan, you will automatically receive a check when a qualified, covered medical event is identified. You won’t need to file claims or submit receipts and you can use the money any way you like.

Covered services include:

  • Accidents such as ambulances, emergency room visits, urgent care, X-rays or MRIs and follow-up provider visits
  • Critical illnesses* such as cancer, heart attack and stroke
  • Indemnity such as hospital or intensive care unit (ICU) admissions and stays

A simpler claims process

If you are covered by both a UnitedHealthcare medical plan and a supplemental health plan – such as Accident, Critical Illness and/or Hospital Indemnity – Benefit Assist is available to you. Included in your plan at no additional cost, the program is designed to help streamline the claims process and make sure you get the benefits you re eligible for – and get them more easily.

Here’s how:

  • A Benefit Assistant proactively looks for eligible medical claims that qualify for a claim payment.
  • When they find a claim, they will reach out to you personally to help submit the claim quickly and accurately- some may be paid automatically.

Benefit Assist support is available at no additional cost to groups with a health plan and supplemental health plan from UnitedHealthcare. Benefit payments associated with the Supplemental Health Plan Benefit Assist program are subject to eligibility requirements and benefits outlined in your UnitedHealthcare policy.
